Global Concepts of Beauty

So I have not yet began my actual abroad journey. However, I'm still interested in exploring global issues. I found this project, Before & After-Esther Honig, which was started by a very brave journalist. She sent a raw photograph of herself around the world so it could be photoshopped by various editors. The results are fascinating. What I found to be especially intriguing is the photoshop work by an editor in Morocco, with the addition of a headscarf to her image. Will I be expected to wear a headscarf for my excursion there? I have never been exposed to a predominantly islamic culture. This impending experience is exciting, but I also find myself nervous to be in a place with many different cultural values. I can't wait to share my findings from Meknes.

The Very Beginning

Hi you. Somehow you have made your way to my attempt at a blog. I created this page to keep everyone up to date on my adventures abroad the fall semester of 2014. I will be traveling to Paris, Morocco and Beijing to study global issues and politics, including Health practices and Human Security. So far, I have loved all of my experiences across the country and overseas, and I am very excited to take my world adventures to the next level. Today I went to a passport health clinic assuming I would need to get a multitude of vaccinations and imunizations for my upcoming journey; Luckily this was not the case. I will only have to take a few pills to protect me from the nasty little diseases that may await me in foreign lands. My appointment today not only helped me prepare health-wise for this trip, but made me realize that I am actually going abroad. I have many things to do to become ready for the moment I board my first flight. So I chose to start this blog and get in the swing of things as far as posting and uploading pictures. Welcome to a glimpse of my life around the world in one semester.
